Also had some some diamond drill bits sent to me by a fellow tiler, these have come from ATS diamond tools, granted I have only used them on stone, but again well impressed, I like the thin rim, have used them dry, on limestone and marble, super quick and a nice clean hole.

Universeal Ultimate Stone Enhancer - 1st Time Review

I used this for a honed travertine floor last week. Good quality dense stone with not much filler at all.
Cleaned and dried with plain water before applying the enhancer.

I've used Lithofin and Fila enhancers before and they've both been easy to use but pretty smelly due to solvents. I'd not considered water based enhancers until this floor but because the customer is 7 months pregnant I thought it's worth a try.
I doubted the effectiveness of water based versus solvent based.

I used a microfibre cloth, dampened with the enhancer and kept it fast and even - not to much left to dwell on the surface.
It dried a lot faster than I expected - couple of minutes rather than 10 stated on the label.
I also found the residue streaky and very hard to polish off. Panicked a bit if I'm honest - being used to solvent based intensifiers I thought I was going to have a job getting this cleaned off!
A quick call to Jason at Universeal and he settled my doubts.

I grouted the floor approx two hours after application and it made the clean up a complete doddle.
The final polish left the floor perfect. Great colour, great clean-up and a very happy customer.
Recommended and I will definitely switch to this.
Coverage on 40sqm was about 3/4 of a litre which surprised me too.
I checked the seal with a water puddle before grouting - one hour and no soak in or stain.
Smell is very mild almost pleasant, a bit like linseed oil putty.

I know solvent is tried and tested and I can't yet vouch for the durability of the colour or protection, but I like this stuff.
This gear is fixed onto 18mm marine plywood and tomorrow I will find out how the joists are spanned / how the ply is fixed but having walked on the balcony yesterday, it didn't feel too rigid to me underfoot. Other than pulling out the whole lot and starting again, I can't see how thisbalcont can be tiled with porcelain. Anyone dealth withthis product before?

Heres some pics of the central bench and shower unit Ive been working on lately. Its in a public Spa. The mosaics are by Original Style and will be grouted with Mapei Kerapoxy. Ive used Mapei P10, and with Isolastic in wet areas such as the shower. Due to the site lights the colours are looking a bit washed out.
Ive also got an ice fountain (partly done so far as you can see in one of the pics) and a foot spa with two showers along a back wall to do as well.

On the outdoor pool i'am working on they have asked me to price the pool surround and a long set of concrete steps, the concrete surround is a lot lower than the pool edge so needs to come up by about 5cm what would you guys do with fixing this job, i was thinking of screeding -up with screed then fixing with stone adhesive then sealing and pointing/grouting , there are several ways to go ! what would you do if different ? you may have a better idea than me ?.

Floor Protection

Was searching around for some floor protection for newly laid marble floors which I wanted to be breathable. I landed on protection.co.uk website and started to read a blog post and noticed the contributor was a certain Mr Stewart Nesbit who turns out some very nice work and contributes on this forum. If its good enough for him then its good enough for me!

Got to say I'm very impressed with it, not cheap at about £100 a roll (100sqm) but then much better than any damage from dirty trades

So thanks Stewart ill be using it on future projects too

Polished Marble

Had a lad come and polish some black marble for me, he did it for nothing as he is looking for me to recommend him, really disappointed with the finish, he said black stones were the hardest to polish to a good finish, mentioned this several times during the process, then wacked a colour enhancer on before he did the off, recon I could have got a better finish with my flex to be honest
