Internet Robots On The Forum

Just wondered if you'd noticed a few forum web robots aka spiders on the forum, crawling through the public data? They'll come up as googlebot, bingbot, baiduspider, facebookexternalhit etc etc.

These spiders are essentially crawling through the site gathering information and storing what it feels are good results to provide the users of google, yahoo, bing search etc.

What does this all mean?

It means your posted advice and guidance is generating you free marketing and exposure for your business and the services you offer. This could lead to business for you if potential customers were to find posts you've made and are impressed with your knowledge and professionalism, even more so if they can tie in photos of your work.

So don't forget to strut your professional advice where possible and fill in your business details in your profile under 'personal details'

Tiling Forum Competition

Afternoon guys and girls,

Just wanted to say that I'm really happy with the effort that has been put into May's competition. And that personally I'm really quite glad a few points have been raised about the competition, whilst I firmly believe it has been conducted as fairly as possible given the competition criteria, there is always room for improvement. The comments have just given me a well needed kick up the behind to push harder to create an even better tiling forum competition next time.

So as starting point and first real attempt, I would consider this competition not bad at over a grands worth of prizes, maybe it's time to up the ante a little? Time to get a little more adventurous?

So moving on, what would you all like to see in future competitions?

New Design For The Tiling Forum

Just a quick note to let you all know we've a new design for the forum on the way, one with a copyrightable design etc. Just giving you fair warning that the look of this forum may change, if in doubt look for our competition announcement banner as I doubt that'll be cloned any time soon.

Hopefully this will stop/reduce the confusion some members have had when they've found the 'clone' of this forum.

The things you have to do eh?

Major Changes: Phases Two

Phase one was moving over to this new and much better forum software, allowing us to get used to mechanics of the site and all the changes functionality that many of us had gotten used for the past year, with the previous forum software.

Phase two however is where we put the meat on the bones by filling the forum full of unique content that you will not find on other forums. We have support from most of the major tiling product brands already, many more to follow once their commitments are completed elsewhere.

So far we've created dedicated forums for:

BAL, PCI, TileMaster, Weber

All of these are pre-populated with product data and information, the aim is to create a central information hub, a quick reference guide if you like.

We also have a dedicated forum for Sigma in the works, which I'm sure you'll be interested in using

As you'll already have seen we now have photo albums available, this I believe will be a great source of business exposure for you all as the major search engines have already started to crawl through the images. Top Tip: Remember to put a description in for your images.

And finally, I just want to thank you all for your contributions to the forum so far, you've made this a friendly, education, inviting and inspirational place to talk about tile, for that I'm eternally grateful. We have plenty of things still up our sleeves so please stick around, things are about to get busier and better than ever before

Major Changes: Phase one

Welcome to phase one of some major changes to the tiling forum. Over the last few months visitor traffic has increased significantly and there was a definite need for some better forum software; tiling forum software that was both familiar in design and easy to use; well here it is.

It may seem like a pain, but being a completely new forum, you will need to reregister your account to start posting, it'll only take a minute

Look forward to reading your posts.
