Tile Master

Just a quick one, well into my job using tile master adhesive, first time I have used it this adhesive, well impressed, so will be using on all my jobs in the future.

Also had some some diamond drill bits sent to me by a fellow tiler, these have come from ATS diamond tools, granted I have only used them on stone, but again well impressed, I like the thin rim, have used them dry, on limestone and marble, super quick and a nice clean hole.

This balcony is covered in a product called Permaroof http://www.permaroofkent.com/what_is_rubbercover.php.

This gear is fixed onto 18mm marine plywood and tomorrow I will find out how the joists are spanned / how the ply is fixed but having walked on the balcony yesterday, it didn't feel too rigid to me underfoot. Other than pulling out the whole lot and starting again, I can't see how thisbalcont can be tiled with porcelain. Anyone dealth withthis product before?

Floor Protection

Was searching around for some floor protection for newly laid marble floors which I wanted to be breathable. I landed on protection.co.uk website and started to read a blog post and noticed the contributor was a certain Mr Stewart Nesbit who turns out some very nice work and contributes on this forum. If its good enough for him then its good enough for me!

Got to say I'm very impressed with it, not cheap at about £100 a roll (100sqm) but then much better than any damage from dirty trades

So thanks Stewart ill be using it on future projects too

Preparing Subfloor In Church

Got an area of 320 sq mts to tile in a church with 20mm French limestone.
Varying patterns and borders so very interesting job.
Wood block removed to reveal and old concret base maybe 100 years old with no Dpm under .
Had a hygrometer on it with readings between 85 -92.
have rounda system either using ultra or ball products to apply liquid Dpm and make up levels with latex .
But could be looking at 300 bags plus a lot of labour to fox levels .
Have thought about whether a thin bonded screed on top of resin Dpm might work.
Anyone have any experience of this and how thin could go.
We might get away with 30mm.
Does anyone know of any specialist who might do this type of thing.
I can't bed stone in sand cement and adhesive as going on top of ditra and can't go over 10mm thick bed for guarantee.
In same way can't guarantee sand cement adhesive bedding even though I know it works

Preparing My Floor Before Tiling - When Do You Need Leveling Done?

Hi All,

Thank you all for taking the time to read and comment first and foremost.

- Concrete Substrate
- Porcelain tiles currently with glaze
- 50m2 of tiling.

To save money i have decided to hire a mini jack hammer with the chisel end (or what we call here as a 'kanga') to remove the tiles as fast as possible. Noting there will be plenty of dust around ill be sure to cover walls and entrances accoringly with relevant airflow.
A question i have is if i cannot get all of the glue off the concrete (thin layers remain, spirit level still confirms level) can i simply lay tiles once they are removed?
If not..
Another step i was thinking is once tiles were removed and glue is still present (thin layers) hire a concrete grinder and sand it off. assuming this has been sanded off - can i lay tiles straight on?

The ultimate question im getting at is, when do i need to concrete level and what situations do I not need it?

Thanks
