you will find both are good and should give no trouble .the one on the left is quick to release and lock and can be adjusted by pushing the button on top to move handle to a better position
yep and I have had trouble with it, metal and plastic together in one component isnt a good idea imho.
All mine lock from right hand side as in pic. Upgrade to new cutters Brian if you need to, Derek is gonna sort us soon.
all mine lock from the right too mate, its just the mechanism I dont like. You getting some shiny's Joe? Good thing about Sigma is they dont need replacing every few years as one ancient one ive got proves. Maybe change handles in the future.
On the correct side in this pic, as to avoid further confusion, this is the type I prefer more robust, like the way they used to be when they started doing the swivel bars. Partly my fault I suppose, under site conditions we dont look after them as well we should, but other than the bit I dont like they are bomb proof!
What model Sigma would us professional tilers buy? I mean, I would want two, a 600 and a smaller one for ceramics, but which model. Looking at the site there are 7 models and a mosaic one aswell. What do most people get?
I would say the 3BM 60cm cutter is a good all round cutter. It will cut the larger ceramics along with porcelain up to 20mm and most mosaics. What i have found with the smaller cutters the most popular seems to be either the 2G or the 7F. both are 37cm long. I have asked some tilers and they have said a small cutter for the ceramics in kitchens etc... is better than dragging a 700 around with you.
Gotta say I love the Maxi handle and since getting my 3BM back in late November last year absolutely love it........ our friendly Irishman Andrew (AOS) got me onto Sigma as a brand.... As has already been discussed I love the fact you can use the Maxi handle as either a pusher or a puller..... experimented with this myself as Leo @ Westerhope told me they were push cutters but tried it pulling and it just worked... so figured it was designed with both actions in mind...... although I use it mainly pushing I can't see any real issues with pulling, they both feel equally natural to me but I am left handed and ambidextrous so maybe that's a slight advantage..... lol I'm not one to bad mouth other products as everyone has their particular favorites but when it comes to Sigma vs Rubi I think those who defend Rubi to the death that they are superior are simply lying to themselves and in denial......... Bit like asking the SAS if they'd trade their Sig Sauer 9mm's for a Colt revolver..... both will fire bullets and kill people but one's FAR more accurate than the other..... I won't ask for a t shirt as I'm full of rippling muscle and a L just wont fit me..........
A baby Sigma for splashies a 500 and a 750 in the van works for me Bolter the rest of my machines hardly move somethin over the metre mark is also handy to have as some of the tile sizes are gettin ridiculous.
Well you asked the question bolter?? A 600 purchase is a wate in my opinion yes a 600 tile is most common these days at least with a 750 or above you can get some angled or rake cuts done and a better quality of cut imho same with someting about the 500 mark for 330's
I'm in the market for a 700 / 750 sigma and a XXL t shirt (please) who is doing the keenest prices a the moment Derek???
