It's a good thing I think. They could have made it that tilers would need to purchase a whole range of cutters. But most of the bases are the same and they made the handles interchangeable to keep costs down.
The only thing is the scoring wheels on the MAX is more expensive to replace compared to the standard wheels. The carbide wheel is set around bearings which is "vibration dampened" for cutting rough surfaces.
so it really is a simple as that derek. just undo the bolt holding the rail, then slide off the old handle and replace with the new max version? its good to see a company design a cost effective option like that rather than forcing the user into buying a new cutter. fair play to sigma!!
Sigma seem to be a No Bull S company and i like that. And they're not like some companies making goods that will only last a few years ! 'Built to last' is a so so true statement that they don't even use, lol.
That's it Ed. knock the pin out at the end and remove the handle. I will say the only thing we don't do is a small tool for the pin. I have to find something in the yard to knock it out with. then get on knees to look for the pin!
Yep. credit to Sigma for making handles interchangeable.... bit like Dewalt with there early Li-on batteries for the 18v platform and making them fit the older nimh style bodies as opposed to going with the slide style like other manufacturers..... look after your customers and they'll look after you !
I've only used rubi's, I'm kinda hoping that Del will send me a sigma so that I can do a comparison test.....seeing as I got a very strange look when I went into my local indie shop with my sigma t-shirt on this week
mine too joe, lately i've been practicing (to save time) by not marking the tile and leaving the bar at 90 degrees and using the measuring bar to the desired length and angling the tile for the difference e.g. 90mm at one end 92 mm at the other so with the tile on the 92mm mark i move one end of the tile 2mm over in one direction to get the correct cut. seems a lot quicker once you master it and more accurate than a chinagraph marker
